Impartial – Invaluable - Essential
Regeneration and economic development are changing. From 2010, principal local authorities have to undertake a Local Economic Assessment in the context of uncertainty, declining public investment and scarcer private funds.
For twenty years regeneration agencies and partnerships have been able to rely on developer contributions to fund social and health provision, infrastructure, and affordable housing: those days are now over.
To support local partnerships and councils, BURA has developed a bespoke service for regeneration teams operating in this ‘New World’ - the BURA Regeneration Peer Review.
Over a 4-6 week schedule, including two intensive days in the field, a Peer Review Team, led by a highly experienced BURA representative and supported by recognised practitioners from private, public and community sectors, helps you ask the difficult questions about how your regeneration strategies impact the local economy.
Key Benefits:
- A robust and informed appraisal of your original strategy
- Improved understanding of key stakeholder relationships
- Access to new and emerging practice
- Greater ownership of corporate objectives across your team
- Instant on-site feedback and a follow-up report
Peer Review is available to all local authorities and partnerships with special discounts reserved for BURA Members.
“The Peer Review was a rewarding experience for the Council. The Review Team helped us to identify and face up to some of the hard choices that lie ahead: how best to use our limited reserves of land? How to develop realistic strategies for retail, and for offices? How best to exploit the potential of the 2012 Olympics, at the Southern end of the Borough? We found the team professional and approachable, and would recommend the service to other Councils and Partnerships.”
– Andrew Kilburn, Chief Executive, London Borough of Waltham Forest, following the BURA Peer Review in July/August 2009.
